Bringing Pets to Saudi Arabia

Those planning to work and reside in Saudi Arabia and wish to bring in pets should follow
the regulations below:

Requirements:

  • Provide permit from the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture to bring applicant’s pet(s) into
    the country.
  • Obtain a veterinary health certificate. The certificate must indicate that the pet was
    examined, has been vaccinated for all possible diseases, and is in good health.
  • The health certificate must be authenticated by the State Department Authentication
    Division.
  • Document fees are $8.75/document. Payment must be made through Enjaz website.
  • The health certificate must be certified by the Consular Section of the Embassy of the
    Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the United States of America.
  • Dogs entering Saudi Arabia must fall under one of these categories:
    • hunting
    • guard
    • seeing-eye dogs
  • Exotic and non-domestic animals are not permitted entry into the Kingdom of Saudi
    Arabia unless used for official government purposes.
  • Dangerous and aggressive dogs such as Rottweilers and Pit Bulls are not permitted entry
    into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under any circumstances.

Traveling to the Kingdom After COVID-19 Pandemic

Since May 17th, 2021, the Kingdom has announced that traveling to and from Saudi Arabia will
be resumed. Before boarding the plane to the Kingdom, non-Saudi citizens must provide a
negative PCR COVID-19 test 72 hours prior to boarding for all travelers above the age of 8.
Unvaccinated arriving travelers (who are not Saudi citizens) must quarantine for a period of
seven days in a hotel or shelter approved by the Saudi ministry of tourism. The cost of
quarantine will be included in the ticket price. A valid health insurance policy must be
provided to the airline to cover the risks that may result from infection with the
Coronavirus (COVID 19). The quarantine shall last for a period of seven days, provided that
a swab is performed on the sixth day and the result is negative.
Vaccinated travelers will not have to quarantine, provided they have proof of receiving the
full vaccine doses before and after arrival. The vaccine taken by arriving travelers must be
one that was approved by the Saudi ministry of health (Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and
Johnson & Johnson).

Arriving travelers who are vaccinated must register their data before arriving at the
Kingdom through the online link.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia applies all precautionary and
preventive measures at the Kingdom’s airports with the aim of providing an integrated health
environment for the visitors of the terminals in the Saudi airports, and the measures taken
by GACA include obliging the concerned authorities and the air transport companies operating
in the Kingdom’s airports to comply with all health safety requirements and precautionary
and preventive measures.

    • Visitors must abide by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Islamic laws and regulations,
      respecting social values and traditions at all times.
    • The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s laws on drug trafficking is strictly enforced. Violators
      are subject to severe penalties, which may include the death penalty.
  • Consulate Hours
    • Passports or documents may be dropped off at the Embassy in Washington between 9:30 AM
      and 11:30 AM on weekdays. Pick-up is between 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM on weekdays. No
      appointment is needed.
    • Please note schedule could change without notice. Ramadan business hours.
    • Incomplete applications or passports will be returned to applicants without processing.
  • Mail Policy
    • Mailing passports: Include a pre-paid return label and envelope (from FedEx,
      UPS, or USPS only) with the return address label filled out completely. A proper
      pre-paid return envelope must include a “PRE-PAID” label. Return envelops showing only
      account numbers are no longer accepted as proof of pre-payment. Credit cards, checks,
      money orders, or cash will not be accepted for return mailing. Any package without a
      proper pre-paid return envelope and label will be put on hold until a proper return
      envelope is received. It is the applicant’s responsibility to determine the EXACT return
      shipping cost. All labels must have a tracking number and applicants are advised to keep
      both incoming and outgoing tracking numbers for their records. The Embassy does not
      accept international packages.
